A full replaster of the whole house. During the quote process they billed themselves as being the Pimlico Plumbing of plastering. So much talk about a 5 year guarantee and on being clean and courteous. Sales (Craig) and the plastering team (Steve) have a completely broken and dysfunctional working relationship. The project was billed as a 3 week project and that as I was not on site they would co-ordinate with the electrician and send regular updates of the work via WhatsApp. For various reasons (some my own) some down to SGB (broken vans, sickness, resignations) the project went on for 4 months. Before starting I was promised that items like mattresses would be protected and that sheeting and protection would be used throughout. When starting I was asked if the floors were staying, to which I naively answered no. I was not aware that this meant that no protection would be used but I take that on the chin and I made sure multiple times to inform Craig, Steve and other on the site that I expected protection to be used on the remainder of the job. This was especially important to me in the hall and stairs which were completed immediately prior to our move in date. Protection was not used and 2 weeks later we are still scraping plaster out of carpets, beading and from floor panels. Not ideal with a new born. I'm reasonably happy with the finish in a lot of the rooms but certain rooms are really not fit for purpose. The worst offender is shown in the picture attached where plaster has been applied to popped plaster below and despite filling and sanding over and over again, it repeatedly shatters like broken glass. All other trades including their own recommended carpenter have been horrified at the finish and have all suggested that mesh should have been used given the age of the building. Apparently not something SGB are familiar with. The relationship fell apart when Craig promised to replace mattresses which weren't protected and compensate for other damage done to the property (all calls recorded and have written documentation), yet about 1 hour after disposing of the mattresses Steve turned up, saying 'that's a very noble offer from Craig, but ultimately it comes out of my pocket and I'm not paying'. The right hand not speaking to the left hand. Only after letting them know all of these promises had been fully documented was this commitment honoured but we were made to feel very uncomfortable asking for something that had been promised. The relationship soured to the point that we no longer feel comfortable or confident in their work to get them to remedy the issues we have with cracking and sloppy finishes. [In response to the reply - issues were not resolved at the time but a payment was agreed at the end of the contract to allow us to cut ties with them after much argument. Notably remedial work we have had to undertake (to date) - we have had to have 3 walls entirely re-plastered, paid for professional cleaners to clean stairs, paid another carpenter to rebuild door openings made to the wrong height and have had to have our locks changed as SGB did not return our keys.]

We have used SGB Plastering twice in recent months for some rendering of walls and a newly built seating area in our garden and are delighted with the work carried out, we have had terrible weather and a lack of cement to deal with during this time but have been kept informed at all times by the brilliant sales manager Craig, We wouldn't hesitate to use Steve and the boys again in the future.
