Hugo lovage patisserie & gin in a tin

Visited Burford and came across this beautiful little patisserie just by chance. We had parked our car opposite this place in front of a gift shop and bakery in the hope to pop into them after grabbing a bite to eat. By the time we returned, the gift shop had closed and the lady at the bakery had started closing up. It is at this point that I noticed Hugo Lovage and how glad I am that I did! As I walked in the first thing I noticed were all the different varieties and colours of all the artisan cakes and pastries! I was mesmerised! Secondly what drew my attention was Cindy! Such a pleasant-faced, friendly and passionate person. As I was so spoilt for choice, I really couldn't decide..... I wanted to buy everything! Cindy went through all her specials and gave me great recommendations. They were all delicious and I honestly couldn't decide on a favourite. Just to give you an idea of the varieties, I bought a giant jammy dodger, lemon meringue tart, black forest gateaux, blueberry and passionfruit tart and so on. This gem of a place is a must visit if passing Burford high street! You won't be disappointed! :)

This is always one of our first stops whenever we visit Burford. The cakes are divine, and they do the best lemon meringue tart I've ever tried. Always friendly service, and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend a visit.

Walking through Burford and stumbled upon this lovely shop Selling a vast array of lovely treats. Opted for a lemon meringue tart and a salted caramel gateau. I have to say the staff were enthusiastic about their produce. You could tell they loved their work. All I can say is bravo you made us very happy that evening, our treats were the best Ive tasted. Thank you

A visit to Hugo Lovage is the rare grown-up equivalent of walking wide-eyed into your very first sweet shop. Incredible cakes and pastries that are as delicious as they are beautiful. The owners are friendly, passionate and most likely magical.
