On Saturday afternoon my partner and I were stuck in the lift at Bude Castle. The power suddenly failed when reaching the ground floor. We were stuck for about 30 minutes in a very hot and uncomfortable situation.Regrettably the health and safety of the Castle staff need a lot to be desired as they could not locate the key that unlocks the emergency switch.Eventually a member of staff rang the brigade and within minutes an engine arrived on blue lights. The crew were all in attendance and managed to open the shatterproof glass door.A very big thank you and our gratitude for averting what could have ended in a totally different manner.Douglas Whitlock
