Hand on heart, our stay at Millers Cottage was one of the best staycations we have ever had! Everything was faultless from start to finish. The process of booking the cottage was made extremely simple, and Anna was always on hand to help make arrangements and answer any questions I had.The house itself felt immaculately clean and fresh as soon as we arrived, and you could tell real effort had been put into preparing it for us. It is extremely spacious whilst still feeling warm and homely - plus, it was full of everything we needed during our stay. The cottage is in such a stunning location, just a short walk away from shops, including a local butchers and grocery shop with fresh eggs and bread. There are endless options when it comes to relaxing walks with breathtaking scenery or cosy pubs for lunch and dinner. The large back garden is the perfect place to end a day of walking - we loved sitting outside in the evenings with dinner and a glass of wine. Millers cottage is the perfect choice for anyone seeking some time away from their busy lives. It is the ideal place to relax, unwind, and enjoy some of the most beautiful countryside that England has to offer.

The village itself although small, does have a few pubs, a nice walk with a beautiful lake and a good children's park. There are big supermarkets a short drive a way, and it is a good location for going out and visiting national trust sites. People have mentioned in previous posts the narrow lane drive to the house being very difficult and we would agree with this. The cottage from the outside is absolutely beautiful and very picturesque, but unfortunately we had lots of issues with the inside of the house. The bedroom downstairs was extremely damp. Every time we got in the bed, the bedding was wet. There were patches of damp on the floor in the living room and the cushions on the chairs felt wet with damp too. Some of us have come away with a chest infection, blocked sinuses, tonsilitus and nose bleeds. We also were asked to strip the bedding on the last day and from that could see how dirty the mattresses were. The house was also very dirty and we had to actually clean it on our first day. The table in living room made the cloth black with dirt and although we understand that there are cob webs and spiders in the countryside, the sheer amount of cobwebs everywhere can only mean that the place has not been dusted properly in a long time. We had to actually go around and hoover and sweep. All surfaces in the kitchen were very sticky and grimy. The neighbours dog is allowed to roam free around the area and as a result there was more than one area of the garden that had dog poo in it, which was especially bad when travelling with children. We also found the dog going through the bins. The play room that is mentioned in the listing could be amazing, but is absolute filthy and neglected and only had about 2 toys in and one really dirty sofa that we wouldn't want the kids to sit on. Although not major issues, it is still worth noting that the Wi-Fi is poor, the extractor fan in the bathroom was broken, the grass hadn't been cut, nor had the shrub hanging over the stairs in the garden, which made it dangerous for the kids, the range doesn't work, but there is alternate cooker. We did try to ring the owner on the first day to discuss some things and to ask where the freezer was and the key, as there are no instructions, but unfortunately we didn't get through and did not get a return phone call. We did in the end find the freezer key, on a top shelf in the dining room, which is definitely not an obvious place to look.
