Atrocious surgery and there are quite a few poor doctors although I have seen one very good locum there. The women at the front desk are so rude and agressive

It's an NHS GP surgery, like most these days, difficult to arrange face to face appointments, but has several 'in house' doctors who are very good.

The GPs are lovely, but the reception team need a robust training regime that supports them in sensitivity, tact and general etiquette. Over the years, I've experienced and overheard lots of questionable etiquette with this team, but recently I overheard a phone conversation with a family member (who is suffering from terrible menopausal symptoms and has every right to request a consultation with her GP) that her request for a phone appointment to discuss this wasn't important. Rather than tactfully advising that unfortunately, this isn't considered high priority at the moment because of "xyz" demands on the surgery but they acknowledge the need for an appointment asap, the receptionist sneered, chuckled as if this person was ridiculous and an inconvenience for calling, and effectively cast judgement on the request for a phone consultation. Note to the Staverton Surgery practice manager: overall, your team does a great job given the circumstances (though, I would strongly suggest that the GP team get trained in gaslighting awareness because myself and female friends/family have had some rather disappointing and questionable experiences here), but your reception team are abominable. They need to remember that tone and tact is paramount. They face a tough job, I'm sure of it, but it's no excuse for the level of disdain towards patients I have witnessed over the years. Unfortunately, you're only as good as your weakest link.
