Chris Gibbs - Piano Teacher

Chris has been teaching my now 7 year old piano for over a year now. I was slightly concerned my Son wouldn't concentrate but he was very keen to give it a go. I feel so lucky we found Chris. He instantly put my mind at ease and bought my then shy child out of his shell. He is incredibly adaptive which is great when teaching a child as he can adjust accordingly to his mood to ensure he makes the best of the lessons. There is not too much pressure which was another thing I was worried about at such a young age and most importantly.....he makes it fun for him. Chris is very approachable and knowledgeable and shares material and tips. Although fully professional, he feels part of the family.

Chris has been teaching me piano for a few years now, his skills in both playing and teaching give me confidence and allow me to develop at a pace and to a level I choose. As an adult learner, it was important to me to have a comfortable relationship with the teacher and not feel patronised/inadequate, and Chris certainly offers this, whilst being extremely reliable and great value! Chris also teaches my teenage son and was a great support providing online lessons during Lockdown. My son's enthusiasm, ability and confidence in playing has really developed as Chris has adapted to his needs and interests.

Chris has been teaching my son for over 5 years and in Nov 2020, he helped him pass his Grade 5 Electronic Keyboard exam with Merit. He has since helped Alex with harmonising as well as theory of Music, to help him through his GCSE Music exam. The main focus for the last two years has been to expose our son to a wide variety of music styles and to learn the piano, which has a different left hand to electronic keyboard. He has learned jazz, classical, film and popular song music and massively improved his sight reading skills and duet playing. Chris' flexible and enthusiastic approach has kept our son still wanting lessons even though he has now finished school.
