A wonderful dance school. The principal has a nuturing, encouraging approach which has seen my daughter grow in confidence and have a love of dance which I know will stay with her forever. The annual shows are spellbounding!

From the minute we started at Elite, it had the feeling of family. Its principal, Stephanie, is kind, friendly, gentle and nurturing with all of her students, giving them a variety of opportunities to grow and develop their dance technique, while at the same time being an extremely talented and evidently passionate dancer and choreographer in her own right. The Elite team fosters a fun and creative learning environment for its younger dancers, offering the opportunity for students to progress through the school at their own individual pace. Stephanie seems highly perceptive and considerate of her individual students unique qualities and strengths. Her seniors, a number of whom help with the younger students, are a testament both to their parents and to the family environment that Stephanie has created. They are dedicated and loyal to the school, exemplary role models, and their passion for dance is an obvious source of inspiration to the younger children. Stephanie possess a keen eye for displays of talent and promise, and where this is combined with commitment and dedication, she will gently encourage and support students to reach towards their dancing potential. For those for whom dancing is a hobby, Elite fosters a lifelong love of dancing and performing, as well as instilling the valuable life skills and qualities of hard work, application, concentration, commitment, discipline, creativity - and the joy and satisfaction that comes of participating in a team and progressing through the ranks. As a school, Elite has grown immeasurably from its humble beginnings on a Bromsgrove Trading Estate to become a thriving and bustling school which benefits from the excellent facilities and staff at The Ryland Centre. Its reputation goes from strength to strength, as its dancers take part in annual world-renowned Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) exams, regional festivals and competitions, intensive workshops sometimes from visiting teachers, and culminating each year in a thrilling end-of-year show. Over time, a growing number of students have progressed on to associate dance schemes with prestigious ballet schools such as the Royal Ballet School and Elmhurst, which they take part in alongside their classes at Elite. Students have performed on stage with the likes of Birmingham Royal, English Youth and Midland Theatre Ballet companies, as well as in pantomimes and local theatre productions. Elite boasts a few alumni who are now at established UK vocational dance schools, taking their passion to the next level. A dance teachers role should not be to chisel, shape and mould a child, as if they were a sculpture, but (to borrow a gardening analogy) to create the conditions under which the children have the best chance of flourishing themselves. The honing can come later, once the students have learned the self-discipline and hard work that it takes to become a dancer. And yet somehow it never feels like hard work when youre passionate, and instilling passion for the art of dance is what Stephanie does best.
