The 2024 Olympics are due to be hosted by France. I am concerned that the IOC and Macron will not fully sanction Russian athletes. By allowing Russian athletes to compete under a so-called 'neutral' flag - the 'Russian Olympic Committee' flag is just a cynical ruse to maximise profit. Oh! No! The IOC has never done that have they? Russian athletes have definitely been implicated in the Russian 'hole-in-the-wall' fraud trick. The process would have been known between athletes and they did nothing to expose it. Athletes have a responsibility to ensure the integrity of the processes involved in their sports - and ignorance is not a defence. In addition, if Putin's invasion of Ukraine isn't the most egregious event that would command the strongest sanctions and exclusion at the games, what is? And regardless of this, Russia will still take every opportunity to cheat. If the IOC allows so-called 'neutral' flag participation then it will have lost all credibility - and Putin will be smirking all the way to his bunker. Macron will try and play the 'International Statesman' and insist Russians participate - whilst in parallel he advocates Ukraine negotiating away their land - as he's already done - btw whilst standing centre-stage of all the paparazzi while he smiles meekly into the camera like Benny Hill! Have you noticed how he plots his position among other statesmen at EU jamborees so he's in a commanding position! So vain! I'm not a sports fanatic, but I'll do all I can to spread the word - that Anything Russian - athletes, roubles and media - are not allowed to participate. If the IOC doesn't stop vacillating and set to and ban them, there'll be an almighty uprising to boycott the Olympics forever.

I spent an interesting cultural evening here with plenty of wine flowing. Met the Ambassador who made an appearance.
