Smiths have just completed both a loft concersion and a garden room for us. From our initial discussion with Terry as to what we wanted we were sold. Danny the project manager and the rest of team were all very professional and work was done to a high standard. From start to finish they worked with us to give us what we had requested. There were small issues and delays along the way but these were all resolved as quickly as they could. All of their sub contractors were really good too. We've already been recommending them. A big thanks to all the team.

Not the best experience sadly. Somehow left feeling disappointed overall when you read the other reviews online which was sadly not our experience of Smiths. A lost summer through the disruption of living and working on a building site. Pros: - Polite team on the whole - Subcontracted Roofing team were good - A new and nice looking roof was installed swiftly and without fuss. - Subcontracted Bathroom Tiler was good - Initial quote competitively priced - Local - Overall finish in the end is ok, but we are certainly not blown away Cons: - Very badly organized, people turning up unannounced whenever they wanted, or not turning up to do something when they said they would - Project overran by months, not weeks - We were always left to feel that we were at the bottom of their client pool, it seemed nearly every other project took priority over ours even if they started after ours - we could see other jobs starting and popping up around us and advancing faster than ours while we languished in a building site. - Very slow - Started in April, did not finish until October. - They upset the neighbours due to not communicating or agreeing in advance (either to them or us) work that they wanted to perform on communal areas. - Installed the bathroom fittings without thought as to how the door to the bathroom would open, thankfully their carpenter did resolve the situation through a workaround. - Left with water pipes supplying the new rooms literally hanging from the ceiling in the bathroom below without putting to the side or attaching to the wall - I did email Smiths regarding this after they had finished the job when we noticed this problem - They did not reply - Had to constantly pull up quality control problems throughout the job rather than them being proactively spotted by the Smith's team and resolved on the job. i.e. wonky plastering, scratched woodwork, doors not opening, holes in new plastering etc etc.

Smiths of Bromley recently undertook a loft conversion for us. We chose the company following a friends recommendation and have not been disappointed. Right from the start Terry was knowledgeable and easy to deal with, providing a detailed written quotation, then guiding us through the planning and design process. The bedroom and shower room are a good size and height and we are really pleased with the new wooden staircase and Juliet balcony. The curved red tiles fitted along the top of our roofline are a really nice added detail. The project was sequenced very smoothly and all the work completed by the team from the first fix builders and roofers, through to the plasterers, plumber, tiler, carpenter and electricians was of a very high standard. All in all, we found the whole team professional, friendly and reliable and would not hesitate to recommend the company.
