Oak Lodge Retreat

I dont know where to start with the dreadful experience we had here.We were so disappointed that we stayed 30 minutes and left. Instead we booked ourself into a hotel down the road. As for the place itself it wasnt particularly welcoming as there was building works throughout the entrance road and parking. No one to greet you. The hut itself seemed small but nice but the facilities were we felt were extremely poor. Paper cups, travel kettle, cheap outdoor furniture everything just felt very cheap. There was a fire pit but no wood. You had to pay an extra 15 for this. No plug socket just a multi-charger. The view in our opinion wasnt very romantic with our main view being a field followed by static caravans and large buildings spoiling the view. The spa pool hadnt been fully cleaned and had lots of white bits floating in it that I tried to fish out. This was NOT blossom like the vendor claimed and was not a natural substance. There was a net to fish them out at least. Even if we were going to use the facilities you cant use them past 8pm. Its also just a static pool. We didnt enjoy the toilet facilities and tried the strength of the shower which was very weak. Its a private bathroom in a shared building and we didnt like this either. Its a bit of a distance from the hut. I wont bore people with the details but we bought an offer through groupon which in our opinion was extremely misleading. We are currently in the process of complaint but out advice is if you are purchasing this, you should contact the vendor first to ensure just exactly what your getting with your offer. We camp often and love the outdoors and hoped that this would be a bit more special and romantic. Unfortunately, we didnt find it so at all.

The heater in the hut is ridiculous, there is no adjustment. Do not book to visit in cold weather. We stayed for two nights and we were so cold, others staying had the same issue. Hot water in the shower took a long time to come through and there was no heating. There is no power supply sockets in the hut, I have a sleep apnea machine which I could not use. The website shows up lighting, but these are not connected, only a tiny single light by the door. We were very disappointed Do not book through oak lodge retreat website as this is so expensive

On group has banned them from selling this miserable expensive experience on group they have obviously had so many complaints now and had to refund. However, the trip ad account is rigged and any negative reviews are being taken off as trip ad make from them having good reviews. Any negative reviews are being deleted by them. Group are not selling this on the group of website for the same neg reasons. Group gave us a partial refund because oak Lodge under no circumstances will even if you point out the fire hazards and why its so uncomfortable they are not interested because they only care about their holidays to America and getting your money to pay for them

The atmosphere, the silence I felt like I was in the warmth wood land in the Carribbean which is what we were looking for. I read some reviews before I went which could really put me off. But I contacted oaklodge via their email link. Anything that I was unsure about I asked questions. They were very helpful and prompt in their response. This helped to go prepared . But the most thing I loved was the lighting in the room, as you walk along the walk way to your room there were lightings along the path way. The wooden hot tub...whowh loved it. The only sad part of my stay was that I had to leave. Unfortunately I only could get one day booking. I would definitely return..
