1 ale. Which was off. Longest wait at the bar I've ever experienced. Partly due to staff, partly customers jostling. Certainly not the great pub I remember, even when it was first taken over.

Well i must say this is a different review from the rest. So me and a friend went to see a band that he recommended we see there (island City) at the Queens head. From the time we entered it was problematic. We both waited to be served with no avail, and a couple of cigs later, 25 minutes later the barmaid served my friend 4 larger's and 2 doubles to be told cash only, no card!!!! Then he gave cash but to be told that they have no change. What sort of business runs with no cash or change these days, let alone NO card payments!!! Sounds like a swindle to me!!!! Then lets get to the entertainment for the evening (Island City). I wouldn't say they are the greatest covers band around, I'd say one of the worst about ive heard. The lead singer, if you'd call him that! Was so enveloped in ego, that he thought he was a cross between Liam Gallagher, Richard Ashcroft and Paul Weller with a Larger in his hand and an ES335, literally shouting into the Mic and the rest of the band singing and playing out of key, was really embarrassing. It hurt my ears to say for sure. The drummer was definitely carring that band with his cover of Plug in baby by Muse. Great effort. And then we get to the disgusting smell of the gents. It smelt like that old dirty ally where all the dogs used to piss and everyone avoided on the way home. I dare not eat anything here as i might not live to tell the tale i think. Maybe that's over critical, but they only had one packet of ready salted crisps behind the bar hung up proud as punch on a hanger. So if you want a pint where you get change, able to listen to some great live music and a service with a smile, then I'd just go to Katie's Vinyl Bar in town. Much more comfortable environment and less ego..

Lovely pub. Had a problem with their card payments which was unfortunate as was there for a wake but the girls were fab and really helpful letting everyone know the nearest cash point which was literally a couple doors down. Had a lovely big kid friendly garden too, great for the summer.

Lovely pub, live music, always seems to be fun with the bar staff happy to wack the juke box on and turn it up or down. Nice selection of vodkas and gins, generally a really nice atmosphere. Have eaten here a couple of times now and I have to say the food is good hearty, tasty meals. Very enjoyable
