This is a great place to try out kayaking or stand up paddle boarding for the first time, we were complete beginners and felt very safe, no danger of tides or wind as you would prob have on the sea! The site is very efficiently run the numerous staff were all very friendly and helpful. The online booking was straightforward and good value. The only draw back is that the cafe is a bit too far to pop to, so planning/full picnic is required, but that's no prob....a cheaper day out. Make sure you take a washable blanket/mat to sit on, lots of duck/goose poo on the grassy area. Also, wet suit/beach shoes are a must....the beach is made of quite knobbly/ouchy little rocks! Overall I would highly recommend a days waterworks at Roadford Lake.

Camped for a couple of nights. Great changing rooms, toilets and showers. Hired kayaks and paddled around the lake. Downside was swimming is not allowed. Seems strange not to bouy off an area for swimming especially when you have campers. Really nothing for children to do on the campsite in the evening. Needs a play area/park
