A small, historic possibly, originally a 13C Chapel, but now largely 14th, 15th C, church with good additional Victorian windows etc. A Lovely, simple church, in a dell at the base of the Bincombe Chalk Escarpment. Featured in Thomas Hardy's tales, it may well also be linked to the "Grand Old Duke of York" children's rhyme, the hill being the escarpment. Several of his German Troops are buried in.the churchyard will flat plain markers. It is also possible an 13C stone altar top is in the aisle floor, and the Purbeck Stone Font still has signs of a lid lock ordered by the Archbishop back in 1236 to prevent the Blessed Holy Water being used for superstitious purposes! A little gem, well worth a visit.

Interesting graveyard with the skull and crossbones memento mori on a table tomb. Quite a few military graves, mostly Royal Air Force.

Lovely old English church with plenty of history spanning hundreds of years .with a dedicated part of the church yard to our War dead from the courageous pilots of the RAF including The Battle of Britain fought over Dorsetshire sky's from RAF Warmwell.
