I am completely disgusted by my experience with Bristol youth maps. Me and my brother 20 and 18, were homeless. They said we couldnt get a council place because we were siblings and when I told my support worker I was sleeping in my car, her response was ok. Homeless prevention in Bristol is insane.

I dont not recommend this service to anyone who is mentally ill, in a domestic abusive household, at risk of being homeless or homeless with a mental health condition. I was under this service for 2-3 months in 2019 after being discharged from a psych ward. At that time I was living in a toxic household, was a danger to myself and was always in crisis. The youth worker I was allocated to (not mentioning specific names) was not interested in helping me in my situation due to the fact I had no passport, work experience or proper school grades. (due to being hospitalised frequently) This YW didnt care about my well-being and you could tell form how she spoke to you. This YW placed me into a hostel that wasnt safe for my medical needs, none of the staff were trained in mental health and I was alone most of the ave a bank account or any income. Id ask her every week on call or in person if she could cancel my tenancy as I didnt have a bank account and I did not want to go into debt. YW for some reason promised shed make sure I wouldnt get into debt. She ignored they request for 2 months and got me into debt for 222 after I managed to find stable housing. In a nutshell, my YW couldnt be bothered to cancel my tenancy on time. I tried to contact YOUTH MAPS to ask why my allocated YW did not cancel my tenancy in time but she never responded. YOUTH MAPS also work with 16-25 service, due to my YW refusing to answer I had to call 16-25 to get more information with her blackmail. The volunteer I spoke to was not approachable, rude and aggressive. She threatened me with balliffs as I was crying on the phone. After that call I told my YW to never contact me and that she ruined everything. Update: its now 2022 and Im doing so much better. I now have my own apartment thats not in Bristol and getting proper help for my mental and physical health. Again, youre better off not using this service as they will only discharge you without notice and dont care for anyone with dangerous mental illnesses.

I lived in 16-25IP property (which was rediclously exspensive considering it was was in constant disrepair ...rats what not) with a extremely unstable which got far much, as this is where council send under 25 referrals for homeless people ,I was left without any acsess too help as all they cared about was some rent arrears i owed 16-25IP...there definitely needs too be a service available for young homeless people are who don't just do the bidding of a very dysfunctional housing association.
