I'm not happy with the veterinary care and customer service at Fishponds vets. I would not recommend this surgery to any animal owner. I've felt lost as what to do with my elderly dogs medical care. - They are very slow to respond, been waiting for 4 weeks for a vet to call me to discuss dental issues. I got a call yesterday. - My dogs meds had to be ordered on a monthly basis, I was told I would be notified when they were ready to collect, I had to chase every single month. - Ran some bloods at the cost of 240, requested a copy needed for her operation, after numerous requests and an ear bashing from me they finally sent them. Took them over a week to send them. - Was quoted 700-900 for dental treatment. Went elsewhere and paid 350 with no fuss. - Disgustingly poor veterinary care, my elderly dog had lost over 1kg in weight over a period of 6 months. Was told this was normal. Since getting a second opinion got advice and analysis of her diet and pain medication, made some minor changes she's back up to her normal weight. Gained 1kg in 4 weeks. - My dog was literally withering away shaking in pain and I was told carry on. - Previously was told to come off pain meds, no advise given to slowly reduce the meds. These are very strong pain medications that causes withdrawal. - Continue with a different pain med that was destroying her liver. - No alternative pain relief offered or signposted for other therapy. Since changing vets my 14 year dog is looking and moving better. She is much happier too. I honestly think without my new vets professional care and attention my dog would have have been pts. I am extremely upset, as my other dog who I lost in 2020, was under their care and on reflection he too didn't receive very good quality care or attention. Old dogs need prompt efficient communication and proactive approach to their medical care.
