The argument given was that a test drive puts lots of miles on the cars, they cost a lot in fuel, and that its a waste of time and resources if someone isnt going to buy the car. They said that someone could reserve the car tomorrow, pressuring us into making sure we reserve the vehicle ourselves.
We walked out, frustrated and baffled by the whole experience. Please dont bother visiting if you expect to be able to test drive a car. We were prepared to buy a 20k car but we will be spending our money elsewhere.

The salesroom experience was fine, pleasant staff and a nice space. However, it took 3 hours (it was a quiet Monday afternoon) and perhaps that could be halved if the 'would you like these extras' sales pitches at every station were made a bit swifter?
The valet was a rush job, the interior was damp when I collected it and the rear seats still had mud-like marks on them. By then I needed to be on my way rather than wait for a second valet otherwise I'd have demanded one.
Finally, the service history and second key were left in Sheffield where it was transferred from. These have now arrived in the mail to me, but again, I had to chase up for these, it was not done automatically by Carshop. Buying from Carshop is dealing with a big mutli-fingered organisation, it is not a personal experience. I think the transfer element (which costs an extra 100) threw them off a bit. But the car, I like!
