        Great pint of ale and a good atmosphere

        Lovely atmosphere in the pub and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. The food was good and reasonably priced. The Yorkshire pudding was up there with the best and the roast potatoes were great. The only real negative was the cauliflower cheese, no one in our group of 6 liked it.

        Nice vibe and really busy pub. A gathering place for young people. The independence and the Bristol brew beer are good choices.

        The Hope and Anchor has a new landlord, they have made a great start in making this a great pub, it's no longer focused on the student market place, it's moving towards becoming a local for everyone including students. The menu is evolving and getting better the service is good and it has a nice garden in the summer. Well done to the new landlord for the great improvements
