my Dad was cared for at Waltham House during the last few weeks of his life. I cannot over emphasise the compassion and empathy shown to us as his children as well as the care that Dad received. He was a in a lovely room overlooking trees and his medical needs were all taken care of so that we had complete reassurance that Dad was comfortable, safe and secure. The management and staff in this care home were incredible in the sense that they showed us such deep compassion when Dad passed away. During such a difficult time we were able to at least know that in his final days, Dad was taken care of completely. This is a care home which I would not hesitate to provide an extremely positive review.

My dad was moved here the end of march 2020 He was moved from a hospital so he was put into isolation for two weeks he had dementia and did not understand what was happening to him We were able to talk to him on the phone but not allowed inside he stopped eating and drinking after him being thare about 3 weeks my brother phoned up to talk to him and was told sorry you can't speak to him I can't give him the phone he had been put back into isolation as was unwell Sadly our dad passed away in the early hours of the following morning on April the 7th 2020 We as a family were not made aware that our dad was put back into isolation or unwell I will forever feel robbed of being able to say goodbye to my father I understand the stress of covid and the strain it brought but I feel they should be more informative of this kind of thing .

My mum has been in WH since February 2020, when she first arrived she had totally shut down and I began looking for funeral places for her, it was all very distressing. The care that she received during this time was fantastic and remains fantastic - they took it all in their stride. I would turn up at all hours of the day, every day and not once did I see any problems or issues with staff members. The only thing that I would say is that I got weekly updates however that seems to have stopped and they would only call me when there is a major change but even that is not a gripe COVID came about and the rules and regulations changed - visits were restricted, things were/are changing/changed. They have certainly dealt with this in a (laughable) dignified way , I think. It does feel like you are visiting in a prison with the ceiling to floor thick perspect plastic with only the microphone attached - the only thing missing is the handheld phone you see on TV programs... Mum is still there, her length of time is unknown but definitely decreasing due to ailing health and the staff call me and update me with any change. I am/ we are eternally grateful for all they do and especially with the past year - it has been hard for all care homes, and I do not have experience of other care homes but I can say that the care my mum has received has been attentive, caring and most of all - she is happy Thank you Waltham House
