I had a heart attack in March so invoked my income protection insurance which I'd paid into since February 2008. Now 5 months later I am still waiting: my medical records were lost by the insurer & we have re-submitted the required information over and over again. The phone lines have been on a message loop & there is just one excuse after another. After 5 months with no income & with 3 credit cards up to their limit, we have now gone to the ombudsman as all our calls to the insurers have fallen on deaf ears. caution all thee who embark on a journey with this company . steve johnstone

I contacted them to make a claim back in Jan I had a back in the post I filled it in all sorted I never heard anything for weeks I was calling them and email them no response 8 weeks later I have a text message asking for more information.i messaged back in the same number no response again. I gave up in the end and cancelled the policy a waste of money all the years I have been paying out

We had private health cover last year with April, and had one claim which was refused. Our son had had a small growth when he was 19, at 42, some 23 years later without any further consultations, it had grown and was causing discomfort. It was recommended to be removed. April refused the claim. It will be referred to the ombudsman. Never has any other health insurance provider refused a claim of ours, in over 20 years, so long as it was not an on going problem. So I advise taking care with this insurer even though they no longer offer health cover, who knows what they will pay out for, or maybe not!
