Rude bar staff. Girlfriend had a box in her arms (not food) and we were shouted at across the bar 'NO FOOD IN HERE' whilst pointing at the exit.

A shadow of it's former self, we won't be going there again. It has completely changed since being taken over by Heineken. No draft real ales. No bottled ales. Plenty of lager and cider. The old menu is gone (despite still being advertised on their website), replaced by a choice of 4 pizzas (but the veggie option wasn't available, we got a takeaway instead). The pizzas looked good but several friends had them and said they were very doughy and not particularly nice. The gents was out of order, the ladies was renamed unisex but it was flooding and smelt grim. The bar staff were helpful and not particularly busy as the pub was mostly empty. It's only open Friday and Saturday. This used to be a great traditional pub in the heart of Gloucester Road. Sadly no longer. We'll be going to the Lazy Dog, Prince of Wales, The Annex, Hare On The Hill or The Hillgrove instead.

Went in for an afternoon pint but alas, gloucester road ale house served no ale.... Barman wasn't interested / offer to put anything on tap and one star you get. Will revise review if name gets changed to the Gloucester Road Larger House. Sort it out Wickwar!
