I'm part of the St Martin's Music Group and in the not too distant near future in the church choir as well. And I have been going there since 2013. Actually I have done a bit of Solo singing in a musical telling of the story of the Early Christian faith called Promise of Power. I have tackled Les Miserable and Oliver amidst other things. More recently - I have been practicing a song from New Zealand to respond to an atrocity that's happened there. And having a go at Pokareare-Ana. I very much want to get it right. And hope I can. Since the last time that this review was done - in common with all places of worship - this church had very little choice but to comply with the pandemic requirements and close to all services from the 23rd of March of this year. Only now - is the church here re-opening but only for prayer service only! And very limited numbers of attendees - probably only 40 or so! And sadly - for now - no hymns or anthems! Technically unfortunate but unavoidable! I cannot advise visiting but the St Martin's Church is on You-Tube and an virtual visit is possible to do. It remains a hope that once a vaccine develloped and deployment of that! By September of this year - at the earliest - or Next February of next year at the best and latest! Full and proper services might resume if that is sorted out on - or ahead - of time. For now limited services are possible but singing in the church remains not so! For now. Just a necessary update. Limited services are now possible. With up to 6 members of either the Choir or Music Group singing hymns. It remains not possible for now for congregations to join in - or either choir or music group members to be at proper full strength. This option is the permitted option under the Church of England guidelines of this.
