Barclays used to give good customer service, but today in the branch it was pretty poor. Had an automated messaged/alert from my app and they couldn't really see it in the branch, so couldn't really solve my issue, apparently the staff in the branch and the app seemed to work separately, which is not really what you would expect. The earliest appointment they could offer to open a child account was in two month, again shocking considering you would expect them to want new customers, so will look into other options/banks! Obviously should get more staff in order to have appointments whitin a couple of weeks, but it seems all they are interested in is taking your money, without giving back anything, which I suppose is what banks are for right?!

Went in to the Westbury on Trym branch yesterday (12th January 2023) to pay in 16 cheques. No queue. Cindy and Ruth provided an excellent and friendly service. I understand that Barclays take decisions on whether they close branches on the level of complaints including those about queues. Because of Barclays policy of cost cutting and closing branches it means that the few remaining branches get queues and complaints. This then, in Barclays logic, justifies further closures. Crazy!
