Weve just been back for our 2nd stay at the cottages, Blakey and Cuthbert. Its perfect for our young family, it has everything we need. Its so comfortable, well appointed and quiet. We absolutely love it and Im sure well be back. Its a little further than wed like from our favourite beaches (30 minutes drive) but they are still very accessible and theres lots of other things to see and do in the area as well including Cragside and Rothbury and some lovely pubs and restaurants. Highly recommended!

If you are disabled or inviting friends to a wedding that are disabled please CHOOSE SOMEWHERE ELSE! Without doubt this is the most disabled unfriendly place we have ever been to. Although there are disabled parking bays close to the venue there are only two and consequently at a wedding the elderly are usually more than the parking spaces allow. To get from the disabled bay (or the closest you can park without the bay) all the path is gravel and if you have ever tried pushing a wheelchair over gravel you know that it is virtually impossible. There are no disabled toilets (I did ask the staff) and the closest is a cubicle in the ladies toilet with a pull down rail but certainly not even signposted as a disabled toilet. Fortunately it was my wife who is disabled, had it been a male it would have been totally impossible to use the male toilet as it was located up two flights of stairs and again the path around the toilet was gravel. They obviously think they are "doing their bit" by putting ramps by the tipi to get up a small step but as I said getting a wheelchair to anywhere near that point is a mammoth struggle. If we had not have had other members of the family around to constantly help me with my wife I am not sure we would have been forced to return home. It was our grandson's wedding and the trauma completely ruined the day.
