The Old Bank Steak Taverna & Bar

Sorry, not a very good rating for a few reasons. Firstly, service is good and attentive but not intrusive. Draft beer to start with was a little bit flat and the following white wine wasn't chilled enough to be enjoyable. Rib eye was tender and served medium, but hadn't been left to rest so the plate and accompanied salad wasn't a particularly pretty site (even when delivered to the table) - It should have been sent back. Personally, I'd also say that the tables area little on the small side. Overall just an average experience. Now my big gripe! I am generally a good 'tipper' but I really (really) object to a service charge of 10% being applied and put on the bill. Now I know I can ask for this to be removed but it doesn't belong there and I shouldn't be placed in a situation of asking for it to be taken off.

Very happy with the experience overall. I tried the Ribeye steak which was delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly to my liking, full of flavour, and juicy. The chips are golden and crispy. I recommend getting the garlic butter sauce on the side for extra flavour, it was great with both the chips and the steak.

Went here for the first time a few weeks ago as recommended to me by a friend, the service was exceptional & the steak was cooked to perfection, will definitely be back.
