Understory Houseplants and Gifts

We had the most wonderful time at Understory Store last Saturday evening! We booked a pottery workshop for my daughters 13th Birthday party, which was so much fun!!! All the girls loved having a go at the wheel and making a plant pot. Tom, who runs the workshop was a great teacher who put the girls at ease, as for most, it was the first time using a wheel. Beth was a kind host, whose calming easy going vibe was hugely cherished (especially as next stop was a sleepover in my living room!!! ) She very kindly made all the girls a hot chocolate, and kept the herbal tea flowing for myself and Tom. Understory is such an enchanting, beautiful shop, full of leafy plants, gifts and curiosities. Very inspiring for all, but particularly so for 13 year olds excitedly exploring creativity. Thank you very much Tom and Beth, and hopefully see you soon when us parents would like a turn! x x

This is such a terrific space, full of lovely plants, pots, cards, scented bath oils, soaps and other thoughtful gifts. A perfect place for relaxed browsing or even last-minute present shopping. Delightful!

Really lovely owner - just bought my first two plants here and she was so friendly and informative! Her lovely dog was also a star and the shop decor is beautiful. Will definitely be returning to try the pottery classes soon

I absolutely love this store! It has the most calming vibe and such beautiful plants and pots you just want to take all of them home with you! Beth and her partner are so so lovely and they did the most wonderful job repotting all my giant plants in my home! They were really easy to contact and fit into my schedule, they came with everything including pots and soil and even cleaned up after themselves! I thought their prices were really reasonable considering the amount of plants they repotted for me and the great service they provided. Highly recommend checking out Understory if you want to support a lovely hometown business here in Brighton and cannot recommend their home repotting services enough! I love recommending them to everyone I know whose plants need some TLC. My plants are absolutely thriving!!
