What a fantastic fabric and beutiful embellishment store. Lovely couple have been running this shop for 45 years respect. An absolute must on everyone's to do list. Pop in and buy something fabulous when visiting the lanes. even if you cannot sew, there are sweet little iron on embroidered appliqu novelty patches. Ribbon to wrap gifts or tie up hair. And the button drawers are so famous and fabulous.

Unfriendly staff, more fabric than there is space for, I have had stuff fall on me before. Overpriced and unlabelled so you don't know how much half of the stuff is until your at the till. Some of the thread is so dirty it's discoloured! I would recommend to stay away there are other places in Brighton where you can actually look around without fear of being lost in an avalanche and where things are clearly priced and the staff is pleasant and helpful.

Went in this shop yesterday for the first time. Love the shop so much fabric to choose from, will go there again next time I come to Brighton. I spent loads of money, the lady was very helpful. Thank you.

Summary: Good potentials of stock squandered by lack of space and unfriendly staff. The positive side to this store: +There is a lot of variety in fabric types and a lot of haberdashery content. Colour variation is limited in some fabrics, but reasonable for less standard colours of fabric types. The negative: -While stock is varied, it's hard to navigate the store or effectively browse what's available. Movement space for customers is almost oppressively tight, even for someone borderline rail-thin as myself. I couldn't imagine trying to navigate as someone of a larger build. -Stock isn't clearly labelled, and pricing seems largely nonexistent. This applies to the fabrics as well as haberdashery content. As a result, shopping on a budget proves near impossible without needing to approach the staff/shop owner. -Staff/owners have an unfriendly attitude, which is a definite barrier to those in need of help. When providing answers, replies are frequently short and not particularly helpful (e.g, '*insert fabric type here* is over there in the back' with barely an arm wave in a cardinal direction of the store). -The store prefers payment in cash over card, which is curious in the current climate in itself. While a card machine is visible, asking to pay with card is met with a frustrated sigh and reiteration of a preference in cash. Additionally, the primary way to know of this in advance comes in the form of a notice scrawled onto the desk (easily missed if you are shopping for any decent size amount of fabric) and a small cardboard sign to the rear left of the desk (also in an area of lower visibility for an already small sign). Overall, while the stock has decent variety the experience of shopping there leaves much to be desired and I'd prefer to visit any of the other stores in the area even with a smaller stock variance.
