Nick was recommended to us by John Pardey Architects, award-winning designers of one-off contemporary houses. He quickly grasped the modern, informal style we wanted, and developed a layout of rectangular beds bordered by corten steel, interspersed with walkways of wooden boards, stone chippings and pavers, plus large feature rocks at key points. He then had to select plants capable of surviving the challenges (wind, salt, sea spray) of a highly exposed, beachfront site. His team ended up planting a new garden just ahead of a week of fierce August winds and yet, astonishingly, the very large majority of some 500 plants survived. With the garden well established just under a year later, attracting bees and butterflies to its abundant and calming seaside wildness of tall colours and grasses, he returned to plant in the gaps, making sure the job was finished properly. Nick's also a thoroughly nice guy, and we are very happy to recommend him.
