Three of us booked a table on-line that was easy. We had a most enjoyable meal that was well prepared, presented and served in lovely surroundings. Sadly though they had no Dry Martini on the bar that spoilt my night. I have been drinking this for over 30 years and it is most unusual indeed for any well stocked bar not to to have this vermouth available.

I went to the Melrose first, and then a few days later went to the Regency at a similar time to get a good comparison. Okay so I went into the restaurant with a booking in advance and they didn't have anything set up, they was also dead. One other table so I was a little surprised. The lady serving us barely left the table, even for us to decide what to order. She stood maybe 2 metres away staring at us and I felt incredibly uncomfortable. I ordered a cocktail which arrives not mixed properly and without the passionfruit it is meant to come with, but honestly I felt so anxious being watched that it was not one of my bigger concerns. I ordered the scallops for a starter and they was okay also just sat in butter, no sauce or garlic like the menu said. They also seemed over cooked and rubbery. For the main we had a seafood platter and I cannot say how bad it was. The oysters smelt so bad and looked microwaved with cheese sprinkled on top, not fresh like advertised in the menu. The muscles were so hard and honestly the whole was so bad, I felt sick and threw up part way through. And the staff made a bit of a fuss as I tried to get downstairs to the toilets, but all the lights were off and the stairs are not exactly safe so it was overall not a fun experience. During the meal, someone came into the restaurant who claimed to know the lady serving us asking about food etc, and they actually told them to go next door to the Regency for a better time. I just started laughing at this point. Even during the meal the lady was staring at us and honestly it was like being on big brother. Would never go back again and this is so so different to my experience at the Regency. DO NOT GO HERE.
