Stayed at Whitemead Park on the 9th-11th October 2021. As a family that work in the caravan and motorhome industry, I have to say this was the worst experience we've ever had on a campsite. We took our twin axle caravan and arrived at the park at 6pm, following signs to the booking office we discovered that it was closed. Unfortunately, there was no signage to say where new arrivals should report to should the office be closed, neither on my booking confirmation or signage. We then proceeded to drive around the campsite which is quite narrow in places, till we reach the clubhouse. I went in and eventually found guest services, which was not sign posted outside. I spoke to woman at the desk, who handed me a card to access the leisure facilities, a map, a car sticker and a review survey sheet. She then said she wasn't very good a reading maps so couldn't really tell me how to get to our pitch. Return to the vehicle we navigated our way through the campsite which is poorly lit and the speed bumps weren't lit or poorly painted. When we got to our pitch we attempted to back onto inline with the instruction on the post. We discovered that the pitch was way to small for a twin axle let allow accommodating an awning (which I added in the booking detail) and our towing vehicle, and right next a tree which encroached onto the pitch making it small. So, I returned to the clubhouse and the woman at guest services said she'd radio the manager Tom, when he came apologies but said he couldn't log into the booking system as his login had been deleted, so I was to go back to the inadequate pitch and wait till the morning. I returned to our vehicle was all intentions to return home. My husband then said that I should attempt to speak to him again, so returned to the office and was told by Tom that he was on a whats app group with other managers and I was just to wait. So we went back to the pitch and then he told us we could go on the tent area at the top of the site, which thankfully had electrical hook up. So, we stays but the pitch we eventually went on wasn't really designed for a caravan and we felt a little abandoned as no one came to see us in the morning. Furthermore the site is dangerously unlit, the kids disco was taking place at 6pm on Saturday evening and parents could sit out on the terrace, but the small kiddies play park was unlit and our daughter scrapped her knee on the steps near the play park as she could see the steps, alot of the site was in darkness. I hope Boundless read this take note. That one; why put a duty manager in-charge who can't access the computer system and secondly why not have a better lit park considering its in the middle of a woodland, I appreciate that maybe a planning issue with yellow light pollution in a national protected park as the Forest of Dean is, but technology is available that lights can be made to help with this. Lastly, we visited the pool on the on Friday afternoon and my seven year old daughter wanted to go in the hot tub facilities, the pool supervisor said that under 8 weren't permitted in the hot tubs as to the age restriction, it was not an issue as the pool was relatively empty. However on our return trip Saturday afternoon with rules were not adhere to by other park customers as it was a free for all, supervisors could see what was happening but didn't interceded. So my daughter was confused as to why she'd been asked to go leave the previous day, when no one was asked to leave on Saturday.
