I know one of the new management personally and I know how much true care, heart and commitment has gone into this home particularly in the past year. Their values of respect, fun and excellence shine through and I would feel deep trust to share care of my family members with Oaklands.

Lots of homes in Brightlingsea. This one is on the smaller side but makes it more homely if you know what I mean. Staff seem attentive and a decent atmosphere ie. no loud noise or odour and folks seem content. Rooms are a good size and well decorated. (Some newer than others) I would like to hear more music and stuff from the by gone era but that's just me! Place has a nice plot of garden at the back. It's a shame they don't use it more but I was told that they are landscaping this year so that the folks can use it more.

Don't send anyone you care about here. My Grandmother was sent here by Colchester Social Services against her will, after being diagnosed with dementia. Within the first year she had bruises all over her body, including on her face. The care home said she was clumsy and knocks herself in bed or falls out of it (she never had this issue before). Her care home place was meant to be 100% funded by Social care, but this didn't stop Lalita always begging me for more money. What should you do in this circumstance? Money that was meant to be spent on my Grandmother was stolen by the care home (solely Lalita the owner). Money taken from her bedside cabinet, and money I gave Lalita which was meant to be for looking after my Grandmothers personal needs like her hair etc was also stolen. Other residents complained to me about my Grandmothers treatment at this care home, the tormenting tricks they would play on her, a real modern day house of horrors.
