I live in the village was honoured to ring muffled bells in Brightling Church on the day of the funeral of her Majesty the Queen. A fine piece of English countryside well worth a visit.

Mausoleum ( pyramid) of John Fuller located right next to very old, dated 1749, St Thomas a Becket Church in Robertsbridge, which also I would recommend to visit after you done your walk around pyramid and peer inside in order to see the Mad Jack ( Mr Fuller) eating his chicken and drinking his claret. Very unusual and definitely unforgettable experience seeing a pyramid in the middle of a churchyard! This 25 foot high pyramid is in need for restoration. So, If you like to help, you can leave donation inside of the church. Also, other historical fallies for you to visit while in this area, such as Brightling Needle, the Rotunda Temple, the Sugar Loaf folly the tower. Not easy to find them all though if you don't have the map, as they are not signed posted. It took us ages to walk around and search for all of them. Some of them you only can see from the distance. Nonetheless, we didn't regret our attempt to do the Mad Jack folly walk as the Sussex Countryside is so picturesque! You can walk for hours there. So, be prepared to spend the whole day there! We have left our car just outside of the Ox Lodge and started our journey from there.

Attempted the mad Jack folly walk but didn't go suitably prepared! Got to see his pyramid mausoleum, the tower folly and the rest from a distance. Quite a hike to see all of them so a more detailed map is advised. The village church of St Thomas a becket is well worth a look. Just beautiful and dates from the 12th century. Lovely little village
