The first hurdle to negotiate is the signs. There's loads of them. Allow yourself a good ten or fifteen minutes to absorb what you are and aren't allowed to do.
For example, while the intention to keep the seats free for the elderly and infirm is to be applauded, the actual execution of this rule is bizarre at best. Perhaps you have to look like you fit into those categories before you sit down.
But rest assured, after it's taken you all the time to read the signs, you may very well be elderly so it's all good.
The next thing to remember is cash. Yes, good old cash. In a world which is moving to a contactless society, this place only accepts hard cash. The owner says it's because "I don't believe in a cashless society" which is fine if you don't run a cafe in the middle of a park but unfortunately, she does. The real reason I suspect is that she wants to avoid the merchant charges associated with contactless payments but let's not go there.
I strongly advise you obey all the rules and go along with whatever the owner tells you. Do not question her. If you do, she may well do what she did to me and nick off and mutter to her staff out of sight. Not out of earshot though were you love?
All in all, this experience is akin to what I expect it was like trying to get food in a post war Eastern Bloc country.
