The best thing about Beldon House was the bed. It was so comfortable we both slept really well. Unfortunately that's about all Beldon House had going for it. We was left standing outside in the freezing cold for nearly 20 minutes unable to get in because the code we was sent was wrong and nobody responded to the door bell. We had to ring the manager but she had the wrong code as well so we had to wait for her to ring someone else. When we finally got in the room we was given wasn't even available so we had to wait for that to be sorted but we got upgraded so we thought wow ok and the room did look really nice. Once in the room we realised we had no toiletries (we was supposed to have extra) so we couldn't shower, there was only 2 English tea tea bags (there was a lot of flavoured tea though) the light fitting above the bed was broken and falling down, there was what looked like m&ms down the back of the bed, there was no bin in the room and there was long black hair in the bed. It generally didn't look like it had been cleaned or set up ready for guests to be in there. There was also no option to have breakfast. Beldon House is in a good location 4 minutes walk and your in town with shops and pubs.

Our friends booked 4 rooms here for us to attend a local party, so the location was ideal. They booked before Beldon House was featured in 4 in a Bed. At the time of booking there were communication issues with not hearing back from the property to confirm messages. Having seen the final episode of 4 in a Bed, where the other B&B owners gave Pav from Beldon House full and frank feedback about how to improve his property, the other owners (and we) all believed he would actually listen and take action. So fair enough when we arrived to find a full re-furb to the exterior underway, with scaffolding around the building and half the car park taken up by skips and a builders' van. But inside the rooms were not only tired and in need of renovation (clearly underway) but they were still absolutely filthy. It was as if being shamed on national TV for poor hygiene had meant nothing. It is one of the most revolting places I have ever stayed in Britain. It is also not acceptable for 4 staff members to be sleeping in the guest lounge overnight. Other party-goers stayed at nearby Albert House and said it was lovely. We have stayed at the local Doubletrees before, which is as you'd expect a HiIton to be. My advice is stay anywhere but Beldon House.
