I took my van to CVT Vehicle Services for an MOT, it failed on a couple of things so entrusted them to put it right and re test it. I had an oil and filter change on top of the essential things that needed fixing for the re test. The work that was carried out was, to have an oil and filter change, a new upper ball joint repaired, a brake cable, and to repair a faulty front indicator. After it passed on the retest, they phoned me to say it was ready. This was after a week of them having my van. The bill came to 775 pounds with another bill for 50 pounds for the MOT. Not only was it in for a week but they had charged me 525 pounds in labour charges. A couple of weeks later the indicator packed in again, so I took it back on the understanding that I wouldn't be charged for any more work carried out. I asked them while it was there to just put a meter over my battery to check the alternator as the battery light was flashing intermittently. I picked it up after them having it for a day. The mechanic told me that the alternator wasn't charging properly under load, and would need replacing. The alternator according to them was coming in at 10 to 10.5 volts under load. I also had yet another bill for them doing a diagnostic test on a road test. "Since when does it need a diagnostic test to check an alternator." They just needed to use a multi meter to check. To say I wasn't happy is pushing it as they charged me a further 120 pounds for the diagnostic plug in and road test. The alternator was only fitted a year earlier, not by them, but a reputable auto electrical garage. I arranged to take the van over to the garage that fitted it last year in the first place. They checked it when I arrived with a meter, and not a diagnostic plug in that CVT Vehicle Services had ripped me off for. They checked the battery, and alternator. Everything was reading as it should be under load coming in at 14.7 volts. What does that tell you about CVT Vehicle Services. Yes it's a long review, but I felt I had to give a completely honest review and response.
