Its a really lovely flat, in a great location, right in the centre of the town. Well decorated, spacious (for two people), with excellent water pressure, the perfect mattress (for us), and an amazing bath. There are, however, a few things to be aware of before you book the flat (we stayed in the Book Club). They are: 1) Noise: Staying in a centrally located flat of course comes with its expected share of noise at night (in particular). But this is compounded here, because the windows of the flat overlook the courtyard below (in front of the Arts centre), which has benches that people congregate at all throughout the evening into the early hours of the morning. And once thats over, you get the bin collection on the roadside. Our advice, bring earplugs. 2) The oven. Dont even bother using it. There is no manual provided for any of the appliances or how to guide for the property, and this oven seems particularly odd. There isnt a microwave or dishwasher or any extra bin bags or cooking supplies, so plan accordingly (there are great restaurants nearby though). 3) Make sure that you have all the details you need to get into the property, at least 48 hours before you arrive. Unfortunately, if, like us, you happened to have lost the email with the access code in it, its not possible to get a hold of the owner via the phone number provided (we tried for several hours, unsuccessfully) or the email address (it takes about 10-24 hours for an email reply). There is no emergency contact to reach out to if you get stuck for any reason (even if the booking confirmation says otherwise, this is simply not true). Apparently, we werent the only ones to have issues accessing the flat, either. According to the bookshop owner (below the flat), there are regular issues with guests unable to get into the property. It seems the owner of the flats lives in the US, and while a relative lives nearby, he isnt reliable. It is also worth mentioning that the bookshop cant let you into the flat either (despite what the owner might tell you, this is also not an option). We had a nightmare with this, so just plan ahead. All of that said, this is a very nice place to stay, and one of the best holiday lets weve rented for a number of years. Its clean, warm and well-furnished. Once you accept the issues (above) for what they are, and plan ahead, this flat is an excellent choice for anyone wanting to visit the area. Even with the problems we had, well definitely book again.

Great self-catering place to stay in the very centre of Bridport, with shops, pubs, restaurants, and cinema screens a hairs breadth away. Beautifully furnished with all mod cons, fab walk in shower and a bath in the bedroom (Book Shop room.) Its varnished floorboards in the bathroom and kitchen/living room, with a tiled floor in the bathroom so was a touch cold underfoot in January but the heating system works really well and is easy to control. Take slippers with you, I would say. Only other quibble is that the bathroom window isn't frosted so it can leave you feeling a bit exposed being right next to the toilet with only a net curtain for privacy. Overall, highly recommended.
