    My boiler a Firebird stopped working and as a result I had no hot water for a period of 6 weeks. I rang around and had a total of 4 recommended boiler engineers come out and only Mark was prepared to look at fixing the boiler. All the others simply wanted to replace it with a new boiler. Mark was on Firebird's list of recommended plumbers for my area. He was totally honest with me and said that the boiler hadn't been maintained well in the past. He believed that it needed a new pump and we could be lucky with a repair but he couldn't guarantee how long the fix would work. He also quoted me a replacement boiler as a longer term solution. The ball park figure he quoted for replacing the boiler was reasonable compared to the other quotes I got even when you consider the additional cost of the repair. He came out the next day from the date of quote and got the boiler working. Sadly it was only for 2 weeks but I still think it was worth the punt. In the meantime Firebird had advised him that the price of their boilers was due to rise at the end of the month by 9% so he dropped all his quote customers a quick email to let them know that if we ordered and paid for before month end we would get the old price. When I advised Mark that the boiler was no longer working within a week he had scheduled the installation in. Other Engineers had quoted me a 4 week turn around time. There was an issue with the wiring of house and the previous boiler and the new boiler. Mark liaised with an electrician I booked in and explained all the steps he had taken to try and find the fault. It turns out that my boiler and the control panel were located on two different RCD's.
