We were delighted to find this butcher's shop, which was quite a surprise as we are vegetarian! Bill Maiden comes from a long line of butchers his father Bill senior took over the premises in 1946. Bill specialises in locally reared meat, and stocks some fabulous award-winning sausages, and delicious pies. He is also a licensed game dealer. Dont be fooled, though, this is so much more than a butchers. It is really a good old-fashioned general stores. There is a wonderful greengrocers to the left of the shop, with a fantastic display of fresh fruit and veg. There is also a wide range of local and regional produce including bread, cheese, cakes, jams, and many other essentials for your kitchen. Bill is a fantastic chap and a fount of local knowledge.
