        Useless opening times, and more than often greeted by a piece of paper pinned to the door saying theyre shut for the day anyway - a bit 1700s for a bank

        I recently opened a new bank account with Halifax online. I wanted a joint account with my wife but was informed that in order to do that I had to make an appointment with my local branch in Brentwood. I popped into my local branch to make an appointment only to be told that I would need to visit another branch in Chelmsford, Romford or Basildon to do this as Brentwood does not have qualified staff to do this type of work. Why is it so difficult to obtain simple banking services in local branches these days and why do customers have to be inconvenienced?
