IF YOU ARE OFFERED CHADKIRKS TO STORE YOUR HOWDENS KITCHEN OR ANYTHING AVOID!! EXPECT IT TO BE DAMAGED AND NOT LOOKED AFTER! USE A DIFFERENT STORAGE COMPANY AND HOWDENS DEPOT We used Chadkirks via Howdens Hazel Grove - they stored my kitchen for 5 months following a Howden's order. We were promised by Howdens it would be looked after perfectly. The kitchen when delivered for installation had lots of damaged items - even the delivery driver was shocked at the state and had to take pictures for evidence on collection. Lots of units were unusable, doors damaged. Clearly none of it had been stored properly and with care. All of these damages caused us huge stress and delayed our kitchen extension project which cost us time and money. Howden's did arrange replacement as quickly as they could but refused to take any responsibility for the delay or stress caused as Chadkirks are a 'separate' service to them. I phoned to complain to Chadkirks as Howdens had instructed me to and Rhys the director wasn't interested in resolving or providing compensation for not looking after the goods with due care. I had no option to inspect the goods prior to delivery as the kitchen wouldn't be released until payment was made a sum of 650 - this was made as requested into Rhys Fildes (the directors) personal account which is dodgy in itself... Rhys was extremely dismissive with my complaint tried to pass the buck back to Howden's and said take him to court. I therefore will be looking to start a claim with the small claims court and also reporting them to HMRC for tax fraud if I don't get a response to my complaint. Totally unnecessary as an amicable resolution could have been made if they had accepted responsibility for the issues they had created by not looking after the goods properly with their storage service...
