I visited swift Go hire pear Mill yesterday. How disappointing I am afraid to say. I had made a special visit with wife and 2 young children so we could have a look at what was best to hire. The gentleman had no time for us. He said, " pick the motor home you want online". That is a difficult task when you have 2 young children and 2 dogs.I also told him I was keen to pick the right one as we are considering buying a motor home and enquired about him selling his ex hire to us. It was something I had heard they/he did. He basically said, "No no" and asked if I was a trader and just pretty much put up a wall in not wanting to help. We were really disappointed as we want to take a year out with the children after selling our house and enjoy the motor home experience. I explained this. I know since covid motorhomes are now expensive and companies are busier than ever however there's really no need to be so "off hand". Its a really important decision to pick the right motor home when you have a family and are novices requiring advice from an expert. We returned home gutted that we had a rubbish experience, especially when it seems to be in contrast to all the great reviews. May be we caught the gentleman on a bad day, it still however effected our plans but has not deterred us in pursuing our dream. We will probably just ask our friends on recommendations.

We hired a swiftgo 612 (manual gearbox) for a week in early October as motorhome newbys. The van itself was lovely, I did most of the driving while my husband admired the scenery. I have to be honest it was easier to drive than I thought it would be, once I got used to the dimensions of the vehicle. It was a 19 plate and the swiftgo team said they usually update their fleet annually but due to covid, there was a delay/backlog of new vehicles. It was obvious that the van was an older model and had been well used, for example some of the cupboards/hatches had sticky catches, the windscreen blind had lost its magnetic strip which kept it closed at night and the handbrake housing was cracked in the cab. One of the picnic chairs was also well worn. Minor problems and slightly inconvenient but not unsolvable. The van could have benefitted from some basic additions such as non slip coasters and place mats and a non stick pan. Overall we had a fantastic week the weather wasn't always kind but the van was always warm and dry. We didn't use the TV and some sites we visited even reported poor reception, instead we utilised the free WiFi to watch TV on our tablet. We would definitely do this again and we have provisional plans for early 2023. We would recommend this company, the staff were friendly and helpful, they even let us look around a selection of vans to enable us to make our booking choice (easier for those who live local to the depot). Highly recommended.

Just back from a great 5-night trip to the Lakes in the amazingly well-equipped Swift Edge. Excellent service from start to finish from the Stockport team. However - no criticism of Swift-Go - but I am absolutely disgusted by the earlier review, submitted by Rob H, showing his/her dogs prancing all over the seats and table of their hired vehicle. Swift-Go's Terms & Conditions specifically state that "Hirers will not allow their pet on any of the soft furnishings or upholstery (this includes the beds, seats/sofas)". Has he/she, like far too many dog owners, a total lack of respect for other people, especially non-dog-owners, who will be eating off that table and sleeping on those seat cushions? My wife and I have had previous self-catering and motel stays marred by accommodation stinking of dogs; and dog hairs, missed by cleaners, on furniture and floors, such that we did ask Swift-Go if we could request a vehicle that had not had dogs in it previously, which they appear to have succeeded in doing. It makes my flesh creep to think that we could have been given the same vehicle as Rob H, or his/her ilk!
