Our stay at the Den was short, just 2 nights in half term. The den itself is beautiful and clearly lovingly crafted. The solar/battery/usage system was plentiful even in a quite murky February and really educational as to managing our resources, which led to some great conversations with our very climate aware kids. We were plenty warm enough between the wood burner and the central heating. Everything was comfortable and so well thought through; for example there are discrete lights around the site that come on as you walk around, giving enough light to see without being intrusive (we were lucky to have clear skies, and the stars were incredible with so little light pollution). The book selection is great, and there are just enough things without being cluttered, we did not want for anything we couldn't immediately lay our hands on. We also used the sauna which was fantastic, can highly recommend the icy cold shower in between sessions, and if brave enough a paddle and splash in the river to really top it off! Jo was around on our first night as we pre-ordered some breakfast bits and pieces, she arrived with warm bread and welcome which really helped us feel at home. We met her again as we were leaving and great to hear a little more of the personal story behind the dens. The den is off grid, this was exactly what we wanted, I can imagine some people may want wifi (or even phone reception), but it is fantastic because it doesn't have this. However if you would prefer to listen to the owls and many little birds during the day alongside the babbling little stream I would highly recommend for a little decompression and slow time.

What an absolute gem, hidden away off the beaten track and such a wonderful property I actually dont want to share this, its too good. We want to keep it all to ourselves. Lol Loved every second of being there, caring and being in the most natural environment in this eco property. Immaculate and tidy with everything you might desire, even precooked meals can be ordered and they are high quality and delicious. Local walks, nearby attractions including the amazing waterfalls at Meldon make this a magical place. We absolutely loved the place. Highly recommended

Wonderful set up for the most chilled out break. The kids survived without their phones, wifi and TV, but more surprisinglyso did we! The weather was only good on our first day, but it didnt spoil our break, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a remote, relaxing holiday. For active families like us, theres also lots to do out and about. Paddleboarding, kayaking, waterfall treks, cycling and castle visits to name a few. The sauna was amazing too!

We just got home from a 3 day break at the Devon Dens and I can't tell you how beautiful it was. The Den it's self was stunning, so cozy and surprising really warm! It had everything we needed and they provided some handy bits for our baby to use too. The surrounding land is well kept and the owl hooting reminded us we really were at one with nature. Jo regularly checked in with us via text during our stay and made sure we had everything we needed. She arranged for us to have a massage in the Den which was a cherry on top of a lovely weekend. The sauna is a must at the end of a long country walk too! Absolutely stunning lodge and would highly recommend to anyone who loves nature or fancies a few days away from reality. We would love to visit again in the future. Thank you so much for having us.
