AOC supplies resin to a local (Rustington, West Sussex, UK) driveway and patio company, known as LK INSTALLERS and LK RESIN. Leigh Kingaby is the Director and foreman of these two companies. The resin patio laid at my house cracked and crumbled immediately. Due to this failure, AOC sent a specialist to witness the second laying of our resin patio. Despite the presence of the AOC representative, the second resin bound patio layer also failed. The resin stank every time the weather was warm and remained sticky underfoot for the 12 month it was in place. Ultimately Leigh Kingaby of LK INSTALLERS and LK RESIN walked away from our job and kept all of our money. He now owes us 10,000 GBP and is trying to shut down his company in order to avoid his financial obligations. My wife and I contacted AOC asking for advice. They were evasive, ignoring all telephone messages and emails until we sent them an official before court action letter. In their subsequent correspondence with us, AOC opine LK Installers are responsible for the failure of the patio as the AOC specialists instruction had not been followed. They make it quite clear their product is not responsible for the failure of our resin bound patio. However to my knowledge AOC still have a business relationship with Leigh Kingaby of LK Installers and LK Resin, despite his apparent inability to effectively lay their product and his unwillingness to follow AOC instruction when using their product. As a side note, the AOC specialist informed my wife that he was new to the company and had never worked with external resin. Leigh Kingaby informed us the resin he used was experimental, which is why it failed. AOC refuse to confirm or deny this as it would incriminate the directors of LK INSTALLERS. Leigh Kingaby stated to the local Trading Standards that AOCs resin had failed at numerous properties. This is now an official record. If AOC continues to supply Leigh Kingaby he will continue to sell his services and lay his faulty product which ultimately results is families paying a small fortune for something which quickly fails. In my view if AOC continues to supply their product to someone they know to be unskilled and unable to successfully apply their resin, they are complicit when the resin bound paving fails. After communicating with AOC and LK INSTALLERS we are still not clear why our patio failed as the messages they have relayed to us conflict. As I have no definitive knowledge as to why my resin patio failed, I can not recommend AOC resin. However in my opinion and experience this product is not fit for purpose.
