I love to support local businesses, but this was very poor. Bad music played too loud to allow conversation at the table. I ordered the steak and ale pie, which you expect to be a generous portion of deep-filled short-crust pastry, filled with chunks of meat oozing in unctuous, flavoursome gravy, but this was the exact opposite - a small sliver of shallow pie perched atop a small portion of what seemed like oven chips. The gravy was so thick and such a small portion that it all fell out of the gravy boat in one lump and only coated a corner of the pie. Service was good, but the selection of beers very lacklustre. If a business makes an effort to please their customers then I'll return, and I understand there are pressures in the current climate on costs, but I could eat much better at home for a fraction of the cost with very little effort, so I'm sorry to say that I won't be returning. The sea bass looked delicious, however, so maybe I just chose badly.

Went in for a relaxing lunch to celebrate our baby turning 1 month old. They sat us down then for the entirety of our meal were moving tables and chairs around us scraping all the furniture along the floor and talking loudly about configuration of tables! They should have either waited until wed finished (as they were setting up tables for 5 hours later) or sat us somewhere else. Food was average as well and pretty tasteless. Bring back the Victorian!
