Rooms: Well equipped and supplied with good wi-fi. Nearby activities: Great base for long hikes Walkability: Up a small rise from the US stop. Plenty of buses to/from Keswick and on to the rail station in Penrith, so perfect for those of us who prefer to use public transport to get to our walking base. Food & drinks: Great breakfast options! And slices of cake if needed on your return from the hills. But if wanting evening meals in the village be sure to book well in advance.

Bed was very comfortable. Room pleasant with fantastic views over Braithwaite village and Skiddaw. Breakfast was perfect every morning. Emma was exceptionally accommodating with our various requests for different family members' requirements attending for a family wedding whose date got delayed. Systems from self check in cards to pre order breakfast all add to the convenience and efficiency. Easy walk to foot of Grisedale pike from the front door - a great boon to avoid parking issues elsewhere. We had a very enjoyable stay and will look to stay again if visiting this area.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Fern Howe Guest House. Emma was an exceptional host - she had many brochures of things to do in the area and provided many local hike recommendations as well. We are so grateful that she was able to accommodate our vegan dietary request. She went above and beyond - the breakfasts were phenomenal! Thank you so much, Emma! We cant wait to stay with you again!
