Well-made, minimal bags that are as stylish as they are practical. I've purchased a couple of bags from Millican and have had fantastic experiences. Prices are somewhat premium, but this is reflected in the build quality. Seams are solid, stitching is reinforced and top notch. The bags have a practical feel, rather than being overloaded with bells and whistles. That's not to say that they don't have great features. I rely on a Smith rolltop as my main commuting and travel bag. It fits perfectly in overhead compartments, features a great laptop sleeve, as well as a very handy and semi-concealed smaller zipped pocket where I can keep my travel docs handy. The fabric is quite water-resistent and has managed to hold up during some pretty hairy Scottish downpours. I'm not sure how it would manage during a days long torrential rain, but that's what pack covers are for. Are these bags for everyone? No. Hiking & travel gear is massively subjective. Some folks will find these bags too heavy, especially for ultralight treks. While Millican does offer newer lines that are lighter and fully water-proof, some of their lines tend on the heavier side. They don't offer the air-channel tech of higher-end Osprey or Lowe Alpine bags, so backsweat can be an issue. Side pockets are very deep. I carry a 1L Yeti bottle with me most days, so these are a welcome size, though they may be overkill for some. Anyway, they're well worth a look. I've found them to be rugged and long-lasting. My bags have taken a beating, both commuting in London as well as abroad, and are both still in fighting shape ... apart from a few scuffs and inevitable bike grease.

These are hipster products rather than serious outdoor gear. The laptop pockets are great and the designs are original, but the roll packs don't stay fastened and the Fraser rucksack is too short in the back. The premium-looking metal hardwear turns out to be painted and the paint scrapes off after a few uses. They tout their Lake District heritage but the products I bought were made in Asia. Expensive for what they are and ultimately don't perform as they should.

I love their products. Especially my Duffle Bag... Care to the detail is overwhelming.
