I used BBS services after a close relative had passed. There was a waiting list for the service, what do you expect from a free counciling charity, once I was on the list there were a matter of weeks before I started consultations which ran weekly for 12 sessions. Staff were always polite and helpful, and the service helped me through a difficult time, giving me space and time to talk and think. I would thoroughly recommend this service if you are looking for a counselor for bereavement, although if you are in desperate need then seek another paid service while you wait!

Lost track of one appointment- received attitude after asking to be removed from the service - i highly suggest you watch how you speak to people

I was referred by my GP. I had an initial appointment and they said that they would be in touch within 6 weeks. I never heard from them again and all attempts to make contact have failed. I am sorry to say that this 'service' does not help, they may be short staffed or just rubbish at admin, but this is not acceptable at a time when people really need help. Do yourself a favour and don't bother.

I was referred to BBS, by my GP, after suffering the negative effects of grievance, after having lost my father. For my first initial appointment, the staff were friendly, hence the star rating but however, I was told I would be on a waiting list and would hear back from them within 6 months after the first initial assessment. It's now been almost a year since I've been waiting to hear back from them. I'm not even going to bother ringing again because I now feel like I do not need the support anymore but I give BBS a one star rating for the long wait and whilst I did desperately need the support, there wasn't any. I do not recommend BBS - if you have other options, I'd recommend you take them up instead, as you would probably receive the immediate support and help that you need, to get through difficult times, much faster.
