I understand it can be very difficult and demanding at times but the reception staff is always cheerful, friendly and accommodating. This applies to all staff in reception, from the senior more experienced staff down to new/more junior receptionist. Although it isn't a perfect system under current circumstances, the effort, hard work and professionalism comes across in every call and visit. Well done!!!

I rang to make an appointment with a doctor at 8.30am the lines were busy until someone answered at 9.25am to tell me there were no appointments available, I felt really ill and had been hanging on for nearly an hour, the receptionist told me to either try again at 1pm or ring back at 8.30 the next day, I tried at 1pm and was hanging on until 1.30 and again told theres no appointments, the receptionist was polite and empathetic but there was nothing she could do, and I was in tears because I felt so ill, she told me I could ring 111 so I did, 111 assessed me and said I needed to be seen within 12 hours, they sent a referral to Ashcroft surgery and told me to ring Ashcroft again and tell them, theyd sent a referral and I had to be seen, I told 111 that Ashcroft were adamant there were no appointments, they said that Ashcroft have to keep some appointments aside for such referrals and that to ring them and they must see me, so I rang Ashcroft only to be told the same thing, referral or not theres no appointments, they told me to come down to surgery the next day for 8.10am and Id be seen so I did and waited from 8am until 10.30 to be seen the surgery itself is run down and filthy, the toilet had no paper towels in, or any way to dry your hands and the bin in there is disgusting the whole place is run down, the doctors printer didnt work either. it should NOT be so difficult to make an appointment or to even get through on the phone lines! (the answer machine says why not use the e consult service online? the e consult service is always switched off!) but in my case I actually needed to see a doctor, and 111 said that I needed to be seen that daythe doctor advised me to write to the practice manager and also my MP with my concerns.the doctors are very good once you get to see one.
