Please PLEASE ignore the only other post on here as it's clearly a disgruntled employee. I cannot express how amazing the staff here and service is at Gateway. My grandma has been living there for about 18 months and she is so happy. The staff are all angels, the corridors and rooms and socialising spaces are spacious, bright with gorgeous big windows. The food is fab and the bathrooms and bedrooms are wonderful. I had to write this as it broke my heart to read the previous comment. Anyone looking for somewhere for an elderly loved one please check this one out! It's well worth it!

I can't recommend The Gateway highly enough. All staff were very friendly & caring, and provided a comfortable environment for my mum to spend her final months. A*

The level of care that my mother experienced while staying at the Gateway during the first week of January 2019 fell well short of what you would expect from what is a modern care home My eighty three year old mother has a degenerative muscle wasting disease and following a fall that damaged her arm can no longer get out of bed without the aid of a hoist, she cant walk because she cant support herself using a frame. She needs to be hoisted out of bed into a chair or onto a commode. There were several examples of woeful care during her stay there, the following is just one example... Waking at 7.00am in need of using the commode, she rang her buzzer, a member of staff came and told her they would be with her in five minutes, by 8.30am no one had come and by now she had soiled herself. My mum started ringing her buzzer again but no one came, in desperation at 9.15am she had to call her daughter to get help! Im not going to start on the cold food or the fact that they ran out of her medication. My mother had an awful stay here and it was upsetting to know she was having to endure a lack of basic care. The carers themselves were trying but the home appears to be significantly understaffed.
