I recently had ACE referred to me by The AA as I needed an inspection carrying out on a vehicle I recently purchased which had faults. The dealership tried denying them and had a false report carried out by a nearby garage who I came to find out was their friend and a trade customer. ACE did take a while to organise an appointment for me and I did have to do a lot of chasing. However, I was eventually put in touch with Dave Bird (Senior Engineer) who would carry out the inspection. Dave visited my property and was left to carry out his checks. He was an absolute professional from start to finish. During the inspection, Dave disagnosed the vehicle both mechanically and cosmetically and notified me of many faults, some of which I was aware of and others that I didnt know about. Dave then went away and put together a fair and impartial report. The report did take up to a week to be written up, but it was definitely worth the patience. I have now been able to reject the faulty vehicle and the finance company are finally enforcing this after the dealership had treat me like a liar for 2 months of torture. Really pleased that the truth was able to be shown and I couldnt recommend Dave Bird and ACE anymore. Thanks again!

FALSE REPORTS..... ACE were instructed by finance company to inspect a vehicle and upon arrival, the ' mechanic ' at the garage had already deleted the fault codes from the vehicle at an earlier date.... BUT somehow the ACE enegineer had managed to orchestrate a report with no fault codes in the vehicle, so therefore he had been told what to say. And how can this company be trusted for reports as a majority of bad reviews against them !!

I was asked by zuto to get an independent report done to prove if an issue with my car was there at the point of sale, I went with ace as out of the 3 company's I was given, ace seemed the most helpful, I actually dealt with the md of the company at the start and he was very helpful. I had a very small issue with the office girls but this was immediately sorted out and the inspection was booked, the inspector was on time and very polite, he was also very knowledgeable, there's a lot of bad reviews on this company that scared me if I'm honest, but my experience has been nothing but great and I would recommend this company to everybody, I now have my report and now the fun begins( not ), ive attached a couple of pictures but the report did come with about 20 thanks to all at ace.

I have given 1 star because I can't give a zero. I wish I had read the reviews before using this company to perform a mechanical inspection. I used ACE to do a mechanical inspection, as my finance company stated they needed this to support a consumer rights act claim. My vehicle had the resonator removed and also a suspected remap prior to me owning the vehicle. This was only discovered at the MOT around 9 months later. They came out and did an inspection, which took all of about 25 minutes, most of which was us taking. The inspector stated they couldn't say either way who was liable, although stated in the report that the garage wasn't responsible. After doing some additional research on the cars previous registration, I found pictures of the car at a modified car meet for extreme performance cars with a body kit ect, which was not present when I bought the car nor was I told about it's history. This was stated to be insufficient evidence to support my case. I have recently had an ECU download from Peugeot, showing ECU faults occuring at around 38k kilometres, which was well before I purchased the car. Even Peugeot told me they believe the car has been remapped after the car came out of the manufacturer warranty. Again, this apparently doesn't support my case. Even though I paid for this inspection, I feel that no matter what evidence I was able to provide, the answer was always going to be the same as this is an inspection requested by a finance company. I don't see how any reasonable person would suggest the modifications were done by me, given the fact the car was highly modified prior to me owning the car, and also given the fact I have managed to get the journal downloaded from Peugeot. If you need an inspection, all I can say is find a one not recommended by your finance company. Otherwise you may end up like me, thousands of pounds out of pocket. Response to comment- Given the evidence I have provided - pictures of the car in a modified state prior to purchase (no visible modification at point of sale), pictures of the ECU showing it had been removed due to a missing nut and corrosion, ECU journal data from Peugeot showing the ECU errors occuring at mileage prior to sale, now a letter from Peugeot confirming this. I also now have the original advert from auto trader with no mention of modifications. Yet somehow this still doesn't support my case that I did not do this to the vehicle. This has really opened my eyes to the second hand motor trade and how it pays to be extra vigilant. My 1 star review still stands, I paid for an inspection yet I seem to have done the bulk if not all of the investigation at a further cost to me.
