Small charity shop with free parking in front and around the area. Great place to do voluntary work to benefit the community. Lots of other shops nearby.

Was left distraught by the cashier (female, middle-aged, wears spectacles), who is unworthy of working in a charity shop/unsuitable. To provide context, I recently begun taking advantage of their reading book deal (3 for 2) as an avid book reader. I went recently (22nd Feb), having a 2 coin reserved to purchase the books. I had another 2 coin stored in my purse, which I admit i shouldn't be carrying around as it is sentimental, but I like to keep it with me. By accident, I payed with this exact coin. As I handed over the coin unknowingly, another cashier seemed new to the job and was learning on how to operate the cashier machine to insert coins. As I gave him the coin, the usual cashier (middle-aged female with specs) was standing besides him. She saw the coin and immediately requested the intern on giving her the 2, which she replaced which 2 change from her own pocket. At this moment, I though it was a little odd for someone to replace their coins with the 2 and did have a slight inkling of maybe providing the wrong coin. Unfortunately, my suspicions were confirmed when I opened my purse that evening. I did in fact give away that precious 2 coin. Unluckily, when I realised I gave away the wrong coin, it was already evening (8-9 PM). I decided to go back to the charity shop first thing and felt assured I could get it back from the cashier, as kind hearted and empathetic individuals usually work in charitable organisations. I was wrong. When I asked, she refused and said the coin had been 'banked'. I had my suspicions, so I asked again if she is sure that she had 'banked' the coin and waited there for a a few more moment, looking her in the eye to no avail. She showed no empathy/regret and most likely lied to my face again. My suspicions were logical - I purchased the books on a Tuesday afternoon and the cashiers shift most likely finished between 4PM-5PM. Banks close around this time, so i highly doubt she banked in straight after work. Unless, she banked it in the morning on Wednesday. Even then, it sounds highly unlikely as why would an individual bank a 2 coin and that too immediately the next day. What a coincidence that the cashier immediately 'banked' the coin in the middle of a working week and that too before 9-10 AM. Like she knew I was to return and I'd ask for it back. It most likely is a lie, and everyone I told claimed she definitely lied. I realise, I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up about the coin, but I expected better from a charity worker who was quick to claim she 'banked' it without a second thought and made no other remarks to show she is truly sorry. The thought of an individual such as this working in a charity store is horrendous. Charity work involves compassion with the community and those in serious need of donations. It is understanding when others are in need and vulnerable and supporting them; not taking advantage of others.
